Both Gillian and Manish study and teach poetry, so they wanted their wedding day to be filled with poetry about love.
Fifty guests gathered at Gallery Gorain in Montreal, which provided the art-filled background.
At the service, Manish read Dylan Thomas’s poem, Love in the Asylum and Gillian read John Ashberry’s poem, Some Trees.
Their theme was an old-fashioned schoolroom; they used HB pencils with a tag attached that had excerpts from their favourite poems. Handmade thank you notes included packets of tea leaves. Envelopes were made from pages of old literary magazines. Instead of signing a traditional guestbook, guests were asked to write on art postcards. In lieu of a wedding cake, Liz, a bridesmaid, made wedding cookies individualized with each guest’s name.
